I have a win98 desktop and w2k laptop both with ethernet cards. Just bought a 3com tp4 hub to connect both to the internet via cable modem...which is successful. I now want to network both machines and a printer via the hub...initial tries unsuccessful...any ideas? do i need additional hardware/software?

You said you were successful getting both machines to share the Internet connection, correct? You just can't share files and printers?
Make sure you have File and Print sharing installed on each PC and that you have directories/printers shared.
Make sure both computers are in the same Workgroup and, just to make things easier, install Netbeui on each.
