I've added nothing to this new laptop yet. I just checked the taskmanager, and it's showin' 65 processes. Looks like it's usin' half a gig of ram too. Bad, or real bad???

Is there a trim vista site, like there was for XP OS?

unfortunately, this seems to be a classic vista issue... it'll easily suck up 1GB in ram doing the most mundane tasks.... One thing that will help... when vista is first loaded, you can change the visual preferences for how to view the windows. The initial setting is for the transparent look when a window is minimized.... You can switch that off. That will definitely help a little bit with the RAM consumption. Try to keep the vista window graphical stuff to a minimum, just like you would do the same thing in certain games to maximize the frame rate.

    Hope that helped....
