I ran across this paper today on TrendMicro's site while researching a different topic, but found it well worth the time to read. Author Charlotte Dunlap tries to address the limitations of current AV test methodologies and suggests that evaluation methods that involve 'live" or real time testing should supersede current tests. The paper is interesting both for its analysis of the shortcomings of traditional tests as well as its acknowledgment of problems with "live" testing. In particular, she singles out NSS Labs and West Coast Labs as offering the best testing currently available. Plenty of topics for discussion here!
