new board

    i just changed the board in my pc it is a asus cusl2 when it goes to start xp fires up fo r second and shuts down wondering how much ram is needed to run xp

    how much ram have you - I have seen it run on 128Mb - certainly a lot of machines with 256Mb where sold

    have you made sure the cooling is correct and put any heatsink compound between the fan & CPU - could it be over temperature and shutting down ?

    did you put the FAN on the correct way round - some CPUs had a small slot/ridge along oneside and you had to get the CPU Fan assembly the correct way around to nake good contact

    yes there is a heat sink fan it comes on fine it runs through and as soon as it goes to load the os it restarts now it is pc 100 there is only 198 mb of ram could this be the problem
