I've merged several threads you've started recently for this new build into this one as they should have all been posted in the same thread rather than starting a new one for each part (in some cases three for the same part) in order to avoid confusion and keep fluidity regarding the build.

I reinstalled the motherboard drivers.
Have a mouse that lights up when connected to a usb

Mouse lights on all usb ports (case& rear io)

The problem:
Using an HDMI KVM switch which has 2 connectors for each PC,
usb for power and the PC's video HDMI.

Has worked fine with 2 PCs, now swapping out one of the PCs for the new PC.
It works if connected to the Rosewill case USB,
But doesn't work with any of the motherboard rear io ports.

So the usb ports work it is just the kv switch that does not work. Some boards do not deliver pw to usb when OFF; others do. What exact motherboard are you using?

Asus AM4 TUF Gaming x570 w/wifi motherboard

works with the usbs that came with the case, not the ones on the motherboard rear connectors

Did you read your manual???
See this quote from your motherboard manual in regard to rear gen 3.2 ports.
SB 3.2 Gen 2 / Gen 1 devices can only be used for data storage.

I find it strange that your board comes with only those ports on the rear. Somewhat ridiculous that it has no standard usb3 or 2 ports.
You can install a usb card OR just use the front ports. If you install a card, be sure it supports charging, etc.

Now that I think about it a little more, I think I know why you have those ports and not the normal ones. The AMD X570 chipset costs quite a bit more than the X470 and the board mfg are cutting costs wherever they are able to cut cost. As an example, gigabyte had for MANY years a dual bios setup where if one bios became corrupted, the backup bios could boot the board. Well that was discontinued on all but their VERY expensive X570 boards. In addition, a mid-range to high end board always came with the realtek 1220 sound and an intel lan. Now unless you purchase a very high end board, you get the 1200 or lower sound and a realtek lan; just another way to cut costs.

I ordered a usb card.
That is a disadvantage with this mother board, listed more sata and usb connections than some of the others.

I purchased a FebSmart 2 Ports USB 3.0 Super Fast 5Gbps PCI Express (PCIe) Expansion Card from Amazon.

The issue is now resolved.

Thanks again.
