How many miles are on it?
Have you had an independant mechanic check it out?

I think that is over-priced. You could probably get one for that price with the V8 engine.

    I want a 1998 Firebird NHRA Edition. And I used to own a '97 one with a V6.

Edit: After looking around, maybe it is not overpriced....hmmm...

Looking at Consumer Reports 2005 book because I can not find the 2006 one but in the "Used cars to avoid" because they show below-average reliability they list
    Firebird 97, 99-01 and that is a 2000.

I would get a Consumer Reports and look tru it and pick cars that are rated as good.
It list reliable used cars too.

Not to mention they don't show the mileage.

I was thinking that was a steal...then I saw the v6  (allthough, those v6 engines aren't too shabby, but nothing compared to the v8s)

Drive it, and have a mechanic look at it, then decide, the price isn't bad at all though...if it's in good shape.

The V6 motors do have potential (if your work on your own cars and like to soup them up). but yes, the V8 350, it is virtually indestructible. It is easy, so to speak, to reach 600HP on those engines.

But in all reality, who wants 600HP for a daily driver. On that car (the V6), 250-300HP gives it a nice little kick in the pants and it will get out of its own way.

    My personal feelings, ewww!

First, its American with probably higher miles.

Second, its a Firebird. Ever seen one of those in an accident? They don't do well at all.

Third, its pricey for what it actually is.

    No bias here

Higher miles isn't always a bad thing. If I had a choice between Car A with 200k on it, that was mostly highway driven, or Car B with 60k on it, that was mostly city driven, I'd not only buy Car A, but I'd pay more for it...all other things being equal.

And why would you buy a car because it survives an accident? Who cares about the car if you're in an accident...as long as you walk away.

And third, that's a reasonable price for that car.

Well with me not having a job right now I cant really afford insurance for a v8 but trust me if i could get a v8 i would

2 - if the price is this decent it wouldnt cost a whole lot to get a new one like it if i wrecked

3 - the "kelley blue book value" on a car like this is about the right price
(also found out on kbb that my current car will only get me about $500)

4 - i was originally looking at a 98 but decided that there werent that many 98s for sale so i went to 98-00

5 - most cars nowadays are made from the same plastic-type material that Firebird were made from

it would also be a bit of a drive to get there to see the car
(6 hours) (6 hrs 45 min if avoiding tolls)
