Where can I find out what the new colour designations for the members mean?
I have not seen that before this week.
The yellow does not show well on my computer (yesterday someone's name was in yellow)

    :)

We are working on creating a legend for them but wanted to get them started before the upgrade, so basically, it's still a work in progress. :)

    The colours represent, as follows:

    Bold red = Administrators
    Bold purple - Moderators
    Bold maroon - Community Moderators

and for the following, we tried to match the colour of their shields:

    Gold = Malware Removal Specialists
    Blue = Malware Removal Trainees
    Green - Trusted Advisors

I like the idea of using colour codes.... (y)

But are all those colours readable in all colour styles????

I mean just think.... Blue text on blue or gray background or purple text on blue background or golden in khaki background??? Will they be readable easily???

Maybe a little darker will be better... :)
Or keeping the text colour black and highlighting the user name with the corresponding colour.... :)

And what about the Admin or Mods who double as Malware Removal Specialists or Trusted Advisors???

Yes there are. It works perfectly in Gray Knight. The one giving us the most problems is the Khaki skin but not because they aren't readable. The problem is the names are in blue already (instead of black) which is the colour of the Malware Removal Trainees and when you click on one it turns teal which is very close to the green of the Trusted Advisors.

A little problem in classic blue is although the names are in black, when clicked on they turn blue (again, the colour of the Malware Removal Trainees). Now we can change the colour of the trainees but we wanted them to correspond to the colour of their shields, which we could also change. If the names would just go gray when clicked on instead of blue (like it does in Gray Knight) that would solve the problem. But I doubt that Mike wants to get into such changes before the upgrade but we're still waiting to hear from him on this issue. I think he has more important things on his plate right now with Cameron just getting his cast off and Christmas around the corner, etc. :)
We tried that and we felt the bold should be reserved for moderators.
That would probably make it difficult to read the name and be too distracting. We are merely trying to follow the trends on other boards that have been doing this for some time.
It doesn't matter, we have to go with our primary role. We can't have them flash different colours or make every other letter a different colour or list the name two or three times with the various colours. We also have the Malware Removal Specialist in our titles now along with the gold shield and if users check the "forum leaders" they will see our names listed under those qualified for malware removal as well. :)

The old ones? There weren't any before other than Moderators being bold black and Admins. bold italicized black. :)

So have you guys finalized the colours or are open to more suggestions?

How is Cameron now? With all of us praying for him, I'm sure he'll get well very soon...

I meant darker colour shades... :D

If anyone needs any help from any Admin or Mod, wouldn't that be easy? Sometimes the involvement of a "forum leader" is sufficient...

    Follow trends???? Can't we be a trend-setter?

    Cool.. (y)

It wasn't really something that was being put out for suggestions. This is the type of thing that you will never be able to please everyone with. :)

I haven't talked to Mike yet so I can't say but he's probably tearing around the house. :D

Yeah well there are only so many colours available and we wanted to match the shields. But they may change again.

    I'm afraid I don't understand this so can't comment. :)

Sure we can, just not in this area since it's already been done. We'll have to set other new trends. Feel free to set away. :D

Hehe... Fantastic!!!! The naughtier the kids, the better they are... :D

Can be anything.... Moving threads, closing a thread, re-opening a thread, reporting spams...
In such cases only an Admin or a Mod can take action. So username is not that important.

Okay, okay.... I'll keep my mouth shut now...:p

I like the notion, though I do agree that the yellow can be a bit hard to read. Since the malware rank is already indicated by both the shield and the text below, I believe the most important thing is that the username supplies the piece of information that only it can supply.

Checking the values in the GIMP, the gold of the malware helper's username is set to Saturation and Value levels of 100, making it bright yellow (sorry, gold). However the shield itself sports a range of tones some of which are slightly paler and other darker. Perhaps there's room for tweaking the colour for easy reading while still making it clear that it matches the shield.

Actually, "yellow" was way too light, it's currently set to "orange,"......so not sure how much darker we can get it and still be in that family.
