Hope I'm in the right forum.

My daughter has a Gateway 233 and has just bought a Sony and is going to give the Gateway to her daughter but wants to copy certain files, games, etc. to the Sony before she makes the switch.

What is the best way to do this?

I know of some ways but I thought the membership here would give me the BEST WAY......

    Thanks,

    skyman

The SneakerNet . . copy things to a floppy or CDROM and "Sneaker" it over to the new computer.

The Network . . most Network cards cost only $16.00 and the cable is cheap. Be sure to specify what you are doing to the salesgeek to get the right setup on the cable.

The Hardware way . . Take the HD out, switch it to Slave and put it in the new computer, then copy files that way.

The safest and easiest is the SneakerNet way.

Anglin_Fool do you have a URL for that. I too just bought a Sony VAIO & need to move 2G's of data from my old system to this one.

    Thanks

    Savvy :)
