new hardware require reinstall?

    as the title says, just curious if id have to re-install windows after changing the motherboard and CPU for newer better stuff?

    if you replace the motherboard, then most likely it will need a reinstall. if the os is oem win7 or older, it will also require a new key.

    In a word.....Yes! Windows is hardware dependent, and an existing Windows install will not run on a new MOBO and CPU. Clean install.
