Can anyone tell me what preparations I need to make to ghost my old hard drive to a new hard drive? These are NTFS partitions and I'll be using Norton Ghost. I'm guessing that I'd be wasting my time to fdisk and format it.
Will Ghost recreate my active partition as NTFS on a blank disk? I have not purchased the HDD yet.

Not hard to do at all. Most new drives come with software that will allow you to do just what you want. The software will format the drive and move everything over to the new drive. All you need to do is install the new drive in the system as the Primary Slave and let the software do the rest.
After the software has finished doing it's thing just remove the old drive and put your new one in as the Primary Master. The drive should come with directions to walk your through it all.

Thank you, John. I've bought so many OEM components that I forgot that some things actually come in boxes, with accessories, no less. I appreciate your input.
