Hi. I'm trying to set up my computer to use my boyfriend's Earthlink connection. Most of the time we share a computer, but I have a second computer that I used to use for my business at another location. I haven't bothered to set up a network because the business is closed and I rarely use the business computer. However, I now need to need to get my old computer onto the web to download a software update to fill out some tax forms. Since it's a temporary issue, I don't want to pay for or set up a network - I just want to unplug the current computer from the DSL modem, plug in the alternate computer, download the forms and be done with it. I've run the 'New Connection Wizard', but I can't seem to connect to the Earthlink server ("Web page not found"). I am getting a connection to the modem. The computer is a Dell Dimension running Windows XP and the modem is a ZyXel ADSL Prestige 660R. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Please show the following for your computer trying to get a connection. If the computer with internet access is running Windows please show the following for it when it is connected. Else what OS?

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.
