    - spilled coffee on my old keyboard (generic hid compliant, usb) so some keys not working
    - bought a new keyboard (generic hid compliant, usb)
    - new keyboard recognized but cannot type. works fine on other pcs
    - old keyboard works and types fine (except for some keys due to coffee spill)
    - installed, upgraded, uninstalled ALL drivers and keyboard, no joy
    - in bios, usb keyboard enabled, detected for both, legacy option enabled
    - ran restore previous config that worked, no joy
    - reverted to old registry backup, no joy
    - deactivated firewall HIPS, no joy
    - tested all usb ports, working fine
    - tested new mouse, generic hid compliant, usb; worked fine
    - tried a ps2 adaptor, some keys responsive after prolonged press but all accessibility options turned off
    - ps2 ports working, tested with mouse only
    - old keyboard works on other PCS also

test the new keyboard on another computer, even new expensive keyboards can be DOA, so cheap generic keyboard would suffer the same sometimes. Hopefully you bought the keyboard at a reputable shop or store that will let you exchange it.

@ john6981, You need to start your own thread if you are having problems with your computer.

@dpzee Please post your system specs, To include Make and model System if Big Box, or same info for the following if custom or home built, Mother Board (including Revision number), Processor (Exact Model Number), Ram, Video Card, Hdd(s), Optical Drive(s), Power Supply Manufacturer Model, Wattage and Amperage on the +12V Rails, OS, and any other peripherals installed on the motherboard.
