I just got my new laptop this morning. Here are the specs:

    Dell Inspiron 6400
    Intel Core Duo 2 T2700
    2Gb Ram
    9 cell battery

Problem is i can here a high pitched noise coming from the laptop that no one else can hear i suspect its coming from the proccessor. Thing is when i remove the power cable the noice stops.

When the noise is present it is intermitent and fluctuates a bit.

Ive phoned Dell but there busy, said theyed call me back.

Any ideas people or should i wear headphones from now on?:(

I know is said ealry that it stops but after resent listening i it keeps going but quieter.

Also its louder when im doing more stuff.

I'd store the machine for a few years, when your ears get older, you won't hear it anymore! :D

OK, to be serious, I think I'd follow bonk's suggestion and contact the manufacturer.

Ive talk to dell, there sending me a replacement, but i have just found the problem, i think.

When i have either have stuff pluged into the USB port there is no annying sound (excluding mouse) which sugest that it is sometthing to do with the USB ports.

    TY 4 ur help
