Hello, we just purchased 2 new Lenovo Laptops with Win-10 that came with McAfee. McAfee will expire in about 10 days. Question: I see Windows Defender is a suggested free Anti Virus to use. Is it still a recommended one to use? or are there any others that might be better?

Also would I need to uninstall McAfee first? then activate Windows Defender?

Thanks in advance:)

If McAfee came installed in those Windows 10 laptops, get rid of it.
Windows 10 doesn't do well when using a third-party antivirus app.
Stick with Windows 10's built-in antivirus app: Windows Security aka Windows Defender.
Once McAfee is uninstalled, Windows Security should re-enable itself.
If it doesn't, you can manually re-enable it.

In this order:

Uninstall McAfee.

Use the McAfee removal tool to get rid of leftover file and registry entries.

Enable Windows Security in Settings - Update & Security - Windows Security.
