if you want to use both compters, a router can provide internet to both, either wired or wireless.

How you connect to the Internet on the laptop depends on how you're currently connecting to the Internet.

    Is it a dial-up connection?
Broadband? If so, is it DSL or cable? What is the make and model of the modem? How is the modem connected to the computer? Using USB or Ethernet?
Do you already have a router? Wired or wireless?
Do you want to access the network wirelessly with the laptop?
