I am using the same XP Pro OS on a machine I have been using for several years. All of a sudden I have to stay by the computer when I login to answer one screen or another. When this first happened it showed a login screen asking me to chose a user. I'm the only user and it showed only my name; still the startup would not complete without my going through this step. I changed that so now I get a dialog box which hangs until I acknowledge it.
I used to be able to turn on the computer and walk away and when I came back it was ready to go. Now I have to wait around until I acknowledge this box before I can go away and let it go through its startup sequence.
I haven't added any new programs just before this change in behavior. I do have Microsoft Automatic Updates. Any suggestions as to how I can get back to my preferred method of startup? (Turn the thing on and go away for a few minutes and have it ready to go).

    Thanks.
