new mobo and hdd. wont boot

    was having trouble with my computer so decided to get new mobo and hdd and start over. now I can't get it to boot up at all. all hook ups appear to be ok. new asrock 970 pro3 r2.0 mobo, new thermaltake tr2 rx 750 watt power supply and new Seagate 1tb hdd. new dvd burners too- all sata. old cpu, amd Athlon x4. system powers on. fans run, but monitor light just blinks green, keyboard and mouse don't activate. any ideas? thanks

    plugged in the 8 pin power near the cpu?
    u don't mention memory, have u tried just one stick then the other
    did u check there is no xtra standoffs in the case when u installed the new mobo?

    take the mobo out of the case and set it up on the mobo box attach the power ...memory...video card (and cpu) short the power pins and see if it will bootup

    didn't have 8 pin plugged in. didn't help when I did. memory is 4 sticks gskill 4gb ddr3 1600. tried 2 sticks with consecutive serial nos. (they were sets of 2 sticks) in slots a2 and b2 but no luck. will pull mobo out and try. what do you mean by short the powere pins?

    the two power pins on the mobo, if in the case u would slide the power connector on ( cable from the computer case)
    .............if out of case u use a flat head screwdriver to power up the board (touch 2 power pins)

    haven't tried pulling mobo out yet. did disconnect hd and system booted to where keyboard and mouse activated, but monitor just blinks green power light. tried an older vid card but same thing. was using a pny GeForce gt640 with one gig onboard ddr3. no onboard video on mobo.

    go thru all the connections again try 1 stick of ram then a different stick ...etc ...etc

    got it to boot up with hd plugged in and all 4 sticks of ram in...n o image on monitor so switched out for a different monitor and put in a diff video card. got image. installing windows 7 sp1 64 bit now. will post back if I'm good to go or have other issues. thanks.
