My Aptiva E26 233mhz Windows 95 Lucent Win modem gave me 46333bps. My new Dell XPS T 800mhz Windows 98 3Com US Robotics modem is giving me 29333mhz(ouch). Same ISP, same phone company, same surge protector.
Should I tinker with the registry, get a new modem for the new computer, or what?
Your ISP may only support Kflex or v90. Your new modem, while a good one, may only be working on x2. Try updating your drivers to the newest ones available and make sure that v90 is enabled.

OK...Tried everything. Spoke to ISP several times, tried settings sent by thegorx, found out by going to Dell support that typing in AT&F1S13=64 in Extra Settings in Modems Properties got me up to 44000bps max. Just read that is decent. Still miss my 46000bps. Thanx all again.
