I have an older system with a gigbyte GA-7DX motherboard. I attempted to install a new V.92 modem. I first removed the old drivers and installed the drivers for the new modem. When I restarted the system after physical installation of the hardware the PnP recognised the new modem. While installing the software for the modem, I received a message that the hardware was installed incorrectly (code 1). I shut down the system and checked the card to make sure all was installed properly. It was. I can not get the system to apply the software. I have tried from the Harware wizard, device manager, and thephone and modems screen in control panel.
The device manager reads " ?- PCI simple communications device" in yellow.
Thanks for any help. Jim

More than likely that it's trying to use the old drivers.

What is the full error message in the properties of PCI simple... device?

In device manager, under what is now "PCi... in the status box I get "this device is not confugured correctly. I am also directed to reinstall the driver. I have tried to manually install the driver and get a popup from the hardware wizard stating it cannot install this hardware. Error during installation. "data is invalid"
Any Ideas?
