I've just built a new system with two Wesstern Digital 200Gb SATA drives, however it is not booting up. Both drives are blank at the moment as I cannot boot up to install the OS.

It's been a while since I've built a new system without a bootable hard drive (and this is my first time with SATA drives), but shouldn't the machine do the POST even without a bootable drive in place? I get nothing on the screen.

You have to load the sata contoller drivers before you can install an os, they are normally on the motherboard disc it came with.
Sorry, just seen it does not post.

What happens when you power on, any fans turning or is it just dead?

Fans all work, but nothing else...not even any lights on the keyboard.

The mobo might be shorting on the case, try a bare install.
Remove the mobo and set it up out of the case, put in one stick of ram and hook up monitor keyboard and mouse.
Power on by shorting the two power pins with a flat screwdriver and see if you can get it to post
