I have the new MS Edge Version 80.0.361.57 (Official build) (64-bit)
I would like the New Tab to open with my default MS Edge Home page (Duckduckgo), how do I do this?

You click on the three dots on the top right. Then go to settings >>> General >>>>> Set Your Home page. There you select "Select a specific Page". That'll open another box where you can enter the exact URl of what you want.

I do have a custom home page defined. it only works when of first fires up the new version of Edge.
My question was such that I do NOT want to do as you have stated.
I want the New Tab to be opened with MY selected home page and NOT the one that Microsoft provides.

I very seldom use edge however I just checked and I do not think you can do what you want. In the settings the choices for opening a new tab are blank page, top sites, or top sites and suggested content. No place to put in a custom url [at least not that I have found]

I also did some research for you yesterday on this and it seems it's just not possible. :(

One thing to remember is that with the new chromium based edge it is far more configurable than Microsoft want you to do or want you to think is possible. Always search both stores for a suitable extension that does what you want. Almost any setting on chrome can be altered by using extensions

    ANY
extension from the Microsoft store or Chrome store will install and can be used successfully

Unfortunately themes don't normally work without a lot of hassle

Thanks, that does the trick, but is not as pretty as the New Tab display that was the default.
