Antivirus: Windows Defender, Disabled

installed malwarebytes from the old pc. uninstalled mcafee which came withe the new pc. Do i need anything else???

Hi.

You mean that you have the Premium version of Malwarebytes? If yes, then you have to change an option in Settings, so the Windows Defender will get enabled.
  • Open Malwarebytes.
  • Press the little gear at the top right.
  • Choose the Security tab.
  • Enable the three options under the title Scan options.
  • Disable the option under the title Widows Security Center.

Try voodooShield. (https://voodooshield.com/) It is an antiexecutable, basically it takes a snapshot of your programs and from then on, foreign executables won't run and it will prompt you. ( malware is a foreign exexcutable ) So drive-by-downloads won't work, and hackers are impeded.

Yes, Malwarebytes Premium works as an antivirus + antimalware solution. So you have to make it clear that you don't want it to be registered in the Windows Security Center. That way, Windows Defender enables itself.
