newbie help please xp non reboot

    dunno what ive done but my pc is dead
    when i try to start up it goes to a black screen with the options
    start normally,start safe mode,last known working settings
    ive tired all three options but all that happends is
    it re boots thengoes back to this screen
    ive tried making an xp boot disk on someone else pc(this)and inserting the floppy with it on and rebooting but same thing happens
    plllllllllease tell me i aint gonna loose all my info on my hard drive
    ive got lots of sentimental pics i aint got backed up..grr i normally back up everything too
