I'm trying to set up my email, and newsgroups, in Outlook Express, on my laptop and I can't get the newsgroups to work.

I copied in all the information, passwords, accounts, smtp, nntp, etc. from my PC and I can get email, but it won't get the newsgroups. I try to download the newsgroup list and it comes back with a panel with my account name and password. I click OK and it comes back with the same panel and won't download the newsgroups.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi tranch

What newsgroups are you trying to access?
Some require you to login, some are public and do not require login information.

Post the server you are trying to access, for example: news.microsoft.com

I can't tell from the above link, if you are required to Log on to the news server or not.
There is also an 800 number on that page for Comcast.

See if the news.microsoft.com server works correctly, it is a free public newsgroup.
The News (NNTP): port number is: 119
You can use a fake name and e-mail address on the General tab.
