My PC won't recognize the NIC I'm trying to install. It says the drivers are installed but there's no NIC. I've removed it and uninstalled it several times to no avail. Also, within Microsoft System Information under the 'Hardware Resources,' I select Conflicts/Sharing and it says "Cannot display information. The component which displays this info is not functioning properly or is not present on this machine." These two problems must be related. This also occurs when I select anything under 'Hardware Resources.'

I seem to recall windows asking me for bios.vxd. Is this related?

    Please help me!

    Thanks in advance...

    Steven

have you gone to the manufactures web site also is you card new or was it purchased used if it is used it could be bad also on some nic cards there is a boot chip and i belive that that has a bios i am not sure but if you live in a big town nic cards are cheap used the older ones i can get for 5.00 or less and do not be fooled by speed your computer can only process so much data at one time and also there sometimes are programs which have to be installed as well so go to the web site and download anything they have for yourcard and if there are no addtional programs it could be that the card is dead

I have an old one in now. I installed a new one though and it gave me the same problems. The NIC showed up earlier today though so something happened.

    Thanks for the reply.
