    Hi

I am wondering if there is a solution to my problem other than reformatting my computer. I am on Windows 2000 and when I try to access my command prompt it says Access denied to the specified device, path or filename. The message comes up when I try to access just about everything in my administrative tools as well. I have to admit I don't have a firewall but I do have an antivirus. Trust me I will get a firewall after this but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight as to how I can fix this.

    Thanks

Are you an administrator on the machine? If not that would be the problem. Use the administrator account and give yourself admin rights.

i am an administrator on this account actually but i didn't have a password on it so i think maybe it was hacked. I was able to access all these options before and then one day i turned on my pc and a dos window popped up, something ran and then after that I had these problems.

Oh, I see. Why don't you start by posting a hijackthis log and that may help determine what's going on.
