Hi everyone, Have been having this problem for the past month or so.... and I'm starting to get desperate for a computer wizz to help me!!

Okay, so I have a HP DV6700 pavilion entertainment laptop with windows vista. I have a feeling that there is not a problem with the actual sound card as sometimes when i turn the computer on, the sound icon looks normal, but then the computer crashes!

I have tried downloading realtek from the HP website, with no luck. I have also tried following various websites with instructions that tell me to go to my device manager and look for sound, 'video and games' (which is not there, neither is 'other devices') I have also followed instructions that tell me to go onto my recovery manager and recover the sound that way- this didnt work either.

Is there anyone that can help me??
Pleease!! I'm not the best with computers, and have tried my best, but I'm at a loss about what to do!!
    Thanks :) Jess x

would you post a screen shot of device manager and sound please
under vista - I would expect to see - sound, video and games

Do you have any yellow ? or ! anywhere in device manager ?

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

control panel - classic view on lefthand side - sound
