Hello im having problems with my pc that was running xp so i decided to install my other hard drive with vista already installed on it, everything else seems to work fine apart from the sound, i have tried countless drivers and still no sound, the sound levels show something is playing but i cannot hear it out my speakers which i have tested and are working fine. i currently have realtek ac 97 drivers installed as they seem to be the right ones for my pc but still no sound. i even went on the manufacture website and downloaded drivers but still no sound

can anyone help me resolve this problem,

Here is the support and software site for the HP Pavilion a1307.uk (product number EP040AA) desktop.

According to its product specifications section, it was introduced in Jan 2006 and sold in the United Kingdom and came with Windows XP Home Edition SP2 pre-installed.

According to its motherboard specifications section, it has Realtek ALC658C AC'97 integrated audio.

Here is the driver for it for Windows XP.

Are you saying that you removed the hard drive that came in it and then replaced it with another hard drive that already has Windows Vista installed in it?

If that's what you did, you're lucky that you even got that desktop to boot up and load Windows.

When you replace a hard drive, you need to format it and then do a clean install of Windows in it.

That desktop came with a low-end AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.80 GHz processor and only 256 MB of DDR PC3200 RAM.

Unless you've increased it to at least 2048 MB(2 GB) of RAM, Windows Vista is going to run like a turtle in it.
