So I've been trying to get into safe mode for a bit now, and it still hasn't been working. I've tried smashing F8 and gently tapping the key but no luck.
During the very 1st screen, I have two other buttons I can press: F10 for (crap I forgot...) and F2 for help. I've tried pressing those but they don't give any response.
The problem I think is that my floppy drive isn't connected. It's been like this for quite some time. As a result, after that very first screen, the second screen is a notice that my floppy drive isn't connected. Before I reformatted my hard drive, I still had the disconnected floppy drive. But back then, I had the option to go into safe mode AFTER that second screen came up. Currently, I can only go into safe mode during and from that first screen I think. What I believe is that even though I press F8 or F10, the new screen doesn't appear because of that floppy drive disconnection notice.
Is there another way to get into safe mode? Someone suggested typing something into the run command box, but another person denounced that idea.
Or should I try to fix my floppy drive and then go for the safe mode?
I don't know why, but back before reformatting, I always got this screen with multiple options to startup (normally, safe mode, and others).
