No hard disk?

My friend have a computer that every time he turn it on in a black screen will say "no OS"
so trying to find out what was the problem he found out the computer was not detecting the hard disk, so he switch the hard drive from his computer but that didn't work, when he put the hard disk back in his computer he got the same problem on his computer too, on a third computer he got he decided no to touch anything but he needed a cd rom this third computer didn't have one so he took the one from his computer an installed in the third computer, when he turn it on he found that this computer now have the same problem as the other two, what a h...... is going on, can you guys help us please.

OK, this is just a shot in the dark but............it sounds like either the power supply is shooting too much juice or the motherboard is feeding current back through the IDE channel killing the boards on the hard drives. :eek:

I would not put anything else in that machine without giving the power supply a good going over and if the PSU is good, replacing the motherboard.
