My laptop wireless suddenly stopped working yesterday ( this has happened before ) so I rang BT for them to mess about with the channels to fix it which usually works but my laptop cant even connect to the internet with the cable plugged in from the hub.
The computer is connected with the wire now and is working perfectly fine.
Ive read on forums it could be the network adapters ive checked and they are all updated.
Ive system restored and still no connection with either wireless or cable .

I've spent 2 hours trying everything suggested on forums today and im close to giving up :( lol

I think that "The computer is connected with the wire now and is working perfectly fine" and "still no connection with either wireless or cable" are rather conflicting. If you still have a problem, what is it?

Try to connect it by both wireless and ethernet and ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

Bah, humbug; they changed their site yet again. Try this link for Xirrus. Or just search for it.

    Try these repairs first ...

    (From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or 7.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

    Reboot the machine.

Download Xirrus using a computer that has internet access. Copy it to your laptop using removable media such as USB flash drive, CD-RW, external hard drive, etc.

"the requested operation requires elevation" means you need to "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.
