Dec 04 2011 a guy that was renting my apartment (a part of the house) bought a d-link N router and wanted faster internet so he installed it and soon after my computer's internet stopped working but every other computer in the house still had internet =[[

i tried to disable and enable it but nothing worked..
i even plugged it into the modem itself and no internet connection it just says "unidentified network"
i unplugged both the modem and router and same problem still occurred

in the command prompt i typed in ipconfig /release and it said "an error occurred while releasing interface loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : the system cannot find the file specified

and i also typed in ipconfig /renew and it said
" an error occurred while renewing the interface Local Area Connection : unable to contace your DHCP server. Request has timed out. "
"an error occurred while releasing interface Loop Pseudo-Interface 1 : the system cannot find the file specified"

I have no idea what is going on before all this we were using a linksys router and it worked fine!! until this new installation came along it has happen before. But before when i connected the computer to the modem, it had internet. Now it doesn't

can anyone out there help me please!! i am completely in the dark!

So its just the ONE PC that will not work - everything else is working fine - how are they all connected - cable / wireless mixture of both

make and model of the PC and what windows version is on the PC

make and model of the modem
Have you changed ISP (internet providers ) to get the faster speed or just the router

exactly how are things connected together and what ports/sockets are actually being used

what happened to the old router

if you connect a PC directly to the modem by a cable and then do a power cycle - and post the ipconfig /all

------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to power cycle

“power cycle” process to reboot or reset the modem/router
  • Switch off all the devices modem, router and computers also unplug their power cables.
  • Wait at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cords back in, but don’t switch them on.
  • First turn on the modem and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
  • Next switch on the router (if a seperate device ) and then wait for a few minutes for it to settle and all the lights to become stable.
  • Now turn on your computer, You should now be able to access the Internet.
