Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following commands:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

    ping 67.195.160.76

    ping yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

More iPod friendly and will convey much of the info:

    1. What version of Windows?

    2. When you do the ipconfig /all what is the IP (or IPv4) address?

    3. For ping 67.195.160.76 do you get 4 Replies? If not, what error message?

    4. For ping yahoo.com do you get 4 Replies? If not, what error message?

    EDIT: 5.Ethernet or wireless connection?

You have internet access and DNS seems to be working. Consider the possibility that a non-Windows firewall or security suite could be blocking your browser(s) and try these repairs ...

    (From a JohnWill post)

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2 or SP3.

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

    Reboot the machine.
