Hi, my notebook has gone haywire and I have had to reload windows vista. However I only have my product key that was on the underside of my notebook and not my cd as one did not come with my laptop. I have an Asus F8V and have got a copy of windows off a friend but my product key will not work with this copy... Any help appreciated
The Vista DVD should have all editions on it. When you are prompted for a key during the install, it should deduce from the key entered and figure out which edition to install for you. Unless, that key on the bottom of your notebook is not for Vista.
Thanks for your reply Lunarlander. I am fairly certain the product key is for Vista. It has 'Proof of license' and 'Certificate of authenticity' for Microsoft on it but a bit is rubbed off above the barcode and Vista was the only thing installed on the laptop when we got it.
Thanks again
