I recently upgraded from a gigabyte GA-K8NSC and a Radeon 9250 (my 6600GT recently died >_<) to an Asus A8S-X and a GeForce 8600GT. Initially the computer worked fine, and I booted up without problems and proceeded to install the drivers for the new components.

After a few reboots I was going into the control panel do uninstall something and the system froze. I performed a hard reboot and the system powered up but refused to do anything. My monitor does not get a signal, all the fans etc are working, and my DVD drive will eject. POST never happens.

I thought it might be a PSU problem as I was using a 20-pin to 24-pin converter, so I ordered a new PSU. The problem persists, and the computer works fine with the old components.

I followed the instructions in the "Troubleshooting Guide for "Problem Builds"" sticky and it did boot up - I tried using the bare minimum of components to have a usable system, and it stopped working again. I then took everything out so it was the way it worked previously - and once again it failed to boot.

I'm at a loss here, and I really hope it's not faulty components. -_-'
