I was given an older Gateway small desk top computer that doesn't power up. It's an Essential 1000. I got a power supply tester and have tested all the parts of the power supply and it all tests ok. The person that last used it said they just shut it off and it wouldn't ever power up again. I'm going out to get a battery to replace that. Is there anything else I can test on it myself to see if it is working?

Open up the case and make sure the RAM, Video Card, Motherboard, and Processor are all seated/connected to the power supply properly. A dead battery won't stop a computer from turning on.
