We are using windows xp. My computer is directly hooked to cable and has the modem Comcast gave us and we are using a Linksys broadband router.
We have had minimal problems until now. The wireless computer has had a very low signal a couple of times but when we try to access the home page it acts wierd and then there is no signal. Does it have anything to do with needing a different or new IP address? HELP

you could try running this program and see what you signals like
Free software to check signal strength of wireless is netstumbler 0.4.0 available for download from http://www.stumbler.net/

how is your wireless router positioned, are that lots of walls between laptop and router
