Ok, so I had Vista up until yesterday when I reformatted my computer and loading XP on it. Everything is working fine except now I have no sound. There is no volume icon in the task bar and in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" it says "No Audio Device." I have an integrated sound card but I'm not sure what it is and I have tried downloading countless drivers to get this to work. In my device manager I have PCI Device, SM Bus Controller, and Ethernet Controller all under "Other Devices" with no drivers to match, don't know if these would conflict with my sound. And in the device manager it shows "Legacy Drivers" under my Sound tab. I have gone through the bias and made sure my audio was enabled so that is not the issue. I called my company's tech support and they couldn't offer any help except loading Vista again which I would rather not do.

You need the chipset driver for your board.

This will provide more information. Specifically, click the sound icon and look for what audio device.

    Its a Lenovo 3000 j115
    model 7387 A11

I have gotten the chipset response from many people but I can't seem to find the right chipsets and no one can direct me to valid ones.

Yes, but what sound chipset is listed in the audio section of PCWizard?

It appears, from what I can find, that the best sound driver may be from Windows Update. Check that. Apparently, many people are having problems with the Lenovo driver.

    OK. Check your drivers here:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-66153.html

Install the NVisia chipset driver first. Then you can install the sound (after a reboot).

If you still have sound problems, like many people have, right-click the device in Device Manager, remove it, and let Vista/Windows Update install drivers.

You can even install Lenovo's automatic updater if you want.

Downloaded the chipset, rebooted, and then the audio driver. Still no sound. I had already tried your second suggestions which did not work either. Thanks for your help though
