I've been trying to fix this problem for about 6 hours straight now...
So I have a notebook which had Vista on it. I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. After I have installed Win 7, it updated everything, downloaded drivers etc. & it was all fine.
A bit later, the sound suddenly stopped working! In control panel, when I click on 'Sound' it shows a playback device as working. If I play something, it shows that it's playing, but I cannot hear anything (I get no sound from headphones too). The screenshot shows this...

I tried reinstalling drivers from HP website multiple times, tried installing Microsoft UAA Bus driver for HD audio and then the drivers, still nothing... Tried different compability modes as well.

I have now reinstalled Vista, hoping that the sound would come back.. It hasn't!
If I try to install this driver , I get an error 'Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver.'

I have tried installing the drivers in safe mode too... Please help

    My notebook is HP G6000.
