no sound on compaq

    can't figure this thing out reformatted C: drive reinstalled windows98se went to compaq and downloaded drivers and my graffix returned to normal. can't get sound to work. any ideas. all suggestions welcome.:confused: :confused:

    A couple of things come to mind. A few of them are obvious but I will mention them anyhow.

    Make sure the wires are connected, make sure that the speakers are plugged in also make sure the card is seated correctly.

    You can also right click on My Computer, click properties, click on Device managers tab, scroll down to the sound card and remove all listed. Reboot and let the sound drivers reinstall.
