No Sound on Computer at all!!

    My computer is a Toshiba running on Windows XP
    I suddenly turned it on and there is no sound at all.
    Tried the troubleshoooting thingy and it said to try to re install the hardware but it comes up with the error 39 thing.
    Saying that the driver is correupt or missing ???
    Please help !!
    Is thi s a virus or what ?
