No sound on windows xp

    Please help. There is no sound on my computer and it says no devices

    Go to start->run
    type devmgmt.msc

    See if there is any question mark symbol beside any hardware.

    Again goto start->run and type dxdiag

    Then under the sound tab click "Test DirectSound"

    Did you do a repair or fresh install of Windows XP?


    What's the brand name, model name, and model number of your computer?


    Go into the Device Manager, then click the + in

    Display Adapters

    Network Adapters

    Other Devices

    Sound Video And Game Controllers

    Advise what's listed in each heading and if any of them have a question mark ( ? ), exclamation mark ( ! ), or X next to them.
