No sound thru speakers after using headphones

This probably is a really simple problem but I can't solve it. I run Windows XP pro. My speakers worked fine until I plugged in the headphones to use with Skype. Now sound only runs thru headphones and even if I unplug them there is no sound thru the speakers. All connections seem fine. I had the same problem on another pc and never was able to find the reason.

It could be that Skype made that headset your default sound device. Most people have Microphones that come built into their computers now lately. Try uninstalling Skype and reinstalling it.
Go into your Volume Control and check to see what the name of the device it is sending the sound to. If it says its your headset when they are not plugged in, it is the headsets problem.
START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>ENTERTAINMENT> VOLUME CONTROL

Also try your Device manager.
RIGHT CLICK MY COMPUTER> MANAGE> "In the left side menu click DEVICE MANAGER"
Make sure that your headset is not still working even though not plugged in. Right click the name of your headset and click disable.
Hope some of this will help.
After you do this try resetting and check by playing a song or something.
