If you want help, you have to give details about your pc.

Hi plodr, thank you for your response. Should I copy and paste from the 'my computer property' or something else?

    Something else.
Brand and exact model of computer so we know the hardware inside.

When did the sound stop working? Windows 10 is notorious for downloading drivers and some of the drivers are wrong so the hardware stops working.

I don't run Windows 10 so you might want to ask for advice in the Windows 10 section, also mentioning what build you are running.

Hi plodr, this PC originally built by my son, parts he bought from computer warehouse, i am not sure what hardware inside. According to system shows Intel Core i5-3570K, 64 bit operating system. Hardware stopped working after Windows update.

Likely just need to reinstall the sound drivers.

I would assume you are simply using the motherboard audio chipset and not a sound card. You can use a program such as Speccy ( https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy ) free version to get the motherboard info.

The motherboard, as noted in the file above, is the ASRock Z77 Extreme4

All of the drivers, including the audio drivers are available on the ASRock website ( https://www.asrock.com/support/index.us.asp?Model=Z77+Extreme4 ). Select download, on the download page select the OS ( Windows 10 Pro 64-bit as noted in file above ) and then select the audio driver.

As with any other hardware or software, goto to the manufacturers webpage and select the support link, and then simply fill in the model information and search. I was linking to make it easier, but you can navigate to it yourself easy enough.
