    I have a compaq presario SR1917CL. Windows XP 2005

My sound is not working at all. I accidentally deleted it trying to free up space. But now, my sound won't show on the toolbar all programs, and when i try to fix the prob. it says "no audio device" and on the control panel it is totally blocked off. I've read different forums on this and tried what they said, but nothings working.. I need help. I switched the soundboard settings to enabled, but that didnt work. Does it have something to do with the BIOS? I've re-instaled my Realtek package, and its still not working.. Please Help!!

I answered over on your other post - have you checked the device manager? Open the Start Menu and right click on My Computer. Choose PROPERTIES.

When the window opens, choose the HARDWARE tab. In Hardware, find the Device Manager and click on it. In this window, see if there is an icon for the sound card or sound device. Open this icon and see if the unit is working properly, or needs to be enabled, or have its drivers reinstalled.
