    Hi everyone,

I need some help getting my thumbnails view back in My Pictures folder. When I open My pictures folder all I get is the thumbnail view from the program ACDsee and it's related icon. I can only view thumbnails when I open that program or Adobe CS-2 & Adobe Bridge or any other program but not through windows anymore. Not that it's a big deal but it helps being able to view thumbnails when I need to find or open a picture. I did a Start ( RUN ) with the following information: regsvr32 shmedia.dll & regsvr32 / shimgvw.dll for a movie related issue I was having and after that I can't recall being able to view thumbnails anymore. Can anyone please forward me any information on how to fix the issue.

My thanks to all in advance
    Chris

    Hello

First Create a System Restore Point and name it before Thumbnail fix.

Now try downloading and running This Thumbnail Fix

    See how that helps.

    Hi,

I downloaded the xp_thumbnail.exe but I still have the same problem. The only thumbnails I can see are those grouped in 4 on the yellow folders. Once I click on the folder to view the rest of the pictures all are in thumbnail form but nothing coming through them.

    Thanks
    Chris

Here is the screen shot of My Picture Folder along with the rest. If you can see I do get 4 thumbnails within the folder but that's it.

Ok,there is nothing wrong. All you want to do is get rid of the folders, right. It is simple. If you want to organize them in sub-folders and then view in thumbnails do the following:-

First for the main My Pictures folder:-

    1)Click on My Computer.
    2)Browse to the My Pictures.
    3)Click on View.
4)Select Tiles(for larger icons) or Icons(for smaller icons).
5)Hit F5 and you will be done.

Now,to view the sub-folders in thumbnails,do the following:-

    1)Click on My Computer.
    2)Browse to the My Pictures.
    3)Click on View.
    4)Select Thumbnails.
5)Hit F5 and you will be done.

    Good Luck.

Try Tools>Folder Options>File Types tab and set the Opens With to Windows Picture and Fax Viewer or anything but ACDsee.
Then pick a folder and delete the Thumbs.db for that folder and see if the thumbnail view returns to normal.

    Thanks to all,

I got the my thumbnails up and showing again. I copied all my picture collection from my laptop to my desktop, It must have been the case with bad Thumbs.db as mentioned by member ( throoper ) in the forum. I do use Picasa and it's great.. but in my case I do professional photography and have over 2,000 pictures only Acd-See can give me the edge in handling my stuff over Picasa.

Thanks again to all for helping,
    Chris
