    I have a HPxw8400workstation.
I got this computer from a friend with no HDD. I put a HDD in it and im getting no video. Ive tried reseating ram, moving graphics card to different slot. Different cable, I know the monitor works because i use it on my other computer all the time. I noticed that the graphics card in the computer is a Matrox Parhelia PCI 256MB. This card is not listed as one that came with the machine. Do I need to download a driver to get a monitor to work or is the graphics card or mother board shot? When it powers up I get a green light on the front and fans run.

if you don't even get POST Screen Video then it is like the video card is bad. It would help if you posted the computer specs for us to help. Does the system also have onboard video you can try?

Have you installed a Windows operating system in that hard drive after installing it in that HP xw8400 Workstation?

From what I can determine, the HP xw8400 WorkStation originally came with Windows XP Professional SP2.
