    Hello,

first of all, let me say that I'm aware that my laptop has no integrated webcam, so my question is really about 'external' webcams not working properly.

    Ok, here goes:
I own an Emachines E525, and today I've tried to get my webcam working on my laptop. I've used the plug&play feature to install the drivers and I've done the installation of drivers manually. Nothing worked. Next, I've tried a different webcam... Still the same issues occur. The webcam comes on when I demand it, it just doesn't give me any picture. I know for certain the webcams are not broken, because I've tried them on my girlfriend's laptop, and they work fine, using the P&P feature.

So, my webcams turns on when a webcam activity is requested, just no picture shows on my laptop. I've used www.testmycam.com to check to see if any picture showed, but it doesn't on my laptop. The picture just remains black.

So my question is if anyone knows what my problem might be? How come these webcams work fine on my girlfriend's laptop, but don't work on mine?

I'm hoping someone has an answer for me, because it's annoying me. A lot.

    Thanks in advance!

assuming that your Laptop has more than a single USB port have you tried plugging the Webcam into a different USB port?
