    Just a general enquiry

can load webpages on the ip address but not on the normal address

any ideas on what you would do for this?

Its quite a common problem where i work and there's no real solution apart from dns and comms refresh then comms refresh with reg hack then finally winsocks

    any other suggestions?

sounds like an incorrectly set firewall blocking dns resolution or something blocking the dns server or it has been incorrectly configured

what sort of set up have you got, a network with a router or a stand alone compter with direct net connection.

if stand alone then a hijackthis log might show some reason for it.

go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or

even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze t
