 My computer started making noise a few days ago. I cleaned (dusted) the computer but nothing and describing the sound is abit hard. It happens every 6-7 seconds and is somewhat similar to that of something scraping or a squeak from clean hands on a clean window (if that makes sense) Computer dell dimension 8100.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Double check your fans for dust and close wires. It sounds like a hard disk problem to me though. Is your computer turning off and on randomly?

it maybe a lose fan or a wire touching the fan had that problem.

Check...........any DVD/CD roms. Check all your fans. Take a paper towel tube and listen to your different parts. Pay special attention to your hard drives.

In all honesty, this could be very simple or it could be a sign of a massive failure. If the sound is coming from a hard drive..........goodnight. Back it up and replace it, now. :(
